opinions needed,
As some of you may know i have got a golf g60 which i bought with the intention of using as my daily project car (caddy for work vr6 for the family!!)
BUT the g60 turns out to be a very very rare one , it was vw factory painted on day 1 in a porsche nile green ,(it is possiblyan oettinger but i have yet to get confirmation back from vw or oettinger )
I have only found evidence of one other in this colour (worldwide not just uk!!)and that one is an oettinger,
The question is what do i do with it ?,
leave it standard and keep it ? (which is not what i bought it for )
sell it to someone who is willing to mint / concours it and give it the love it deserves!
I could just mod it but would i be doing wrong ??
:santa: remember leave me a soddin mince pie and i pop a cap in yo ass while you sleep
-
I'd wait and see what you can find out about it...definatly don't mod it if it's an oettinger...would be worth a fair bit if there's only 2 of them in the world!!
saying that I wouldn't mod it anyway because it's a g60..they aren't exactly common and there's gradually becoming less and less original ones about..but at the end of the day it's your motor and your choice!
-
if ur not looking to keep it then u could give it so a forum member! ha ha
no seriously if u not looking to keep it then sell it for big money, if its rarer than salmon legs then u could be looking at big coin!!
-
Keep it standard and lock it away carefully for a couple of years until all the rusty mk2's are off the road then make a mint. :smug:
or
Swap it with me for a mk3 and some magical christmas beans.
-
i wouldnt mod it.. but u could sell it for a sh!tload and buy a less rare G60 for less and use the change for modifications.
-
keep it mint. weekend toy

Just opened the post and theres a letter from volkswagen ,
they say that they can confirm that the paint code is a special one and all the details are correct but they cant confirm that it is an oettinger ,
still its nice to know that vw have got some customer care ,(i was expecting to get fobbed off by them but they have been really helpful )
I was expecting loads of replies saying "sod it mod it " but glad to see that we have some respect for standard cars!!
-
dude unless some chav waks it!touch wood! id leave it standard.did the same with mine, mine was proper mint when i got it so i kept it that way until some dosey corsa driver hit it now it looks nothing like it as its worth naff all as a catd right off!

Keep it standard! If u get it lookin like it did the day it rolled out of the factory it'll look infinitely better than any modded one... and it'll be worth a shed load when/if you decide to sell it.

fit a sierra cosworth spoiler and jack it up at the back
only kiddin, leave it be.
-
if its an oettinger one wouldnt it be a lot quicker than a standard g60?
-
^^ it would be yeah, i'd keep it standard. it should be obvious if its an oettinger one as i'm pretty sure they had some branded parts in the engine bay and almost 100% they had a branded ecu.....
so yeah keep it standard or sell it to someone who'd appreciate it....
-
they usually put their own cylinder head and inlet/exhaust manifold on i thought, so it should be pretty obvious
-
there is 2 different specs a 180bhp and a 200bhp ,
they have different ecu ,cam, pulley + alloy sump , mine doesnt have the sump (could have been replaced at some point ?) and the other bits are hard to tell ,+ i got hardly any history with the car ,
But i have spoke to the guy who imported it from holland and he says that it is an oettinger :undecided: , i have tried to contact the guy who owned it in the uk first but cant find him ,
at the moment im thinking that i am going to just do a few things to it to get it into a nice standard g60 and then pass it on and set about finding a different car to "butcher"

get some pictures up first!!!
