Hello out there to one and all !    :smiley:

After many years of driving, I thought it was about time I bought myself a Golf GTI, as I have "dabbled", should we say, over the years, but never bought one (or any VW for that matter), for reasons I cannot recall.

Anyway, I am coming straight from a Subaru STI, which is a fabulous performance car, but also one which I have lately become cheesed-off with, due to the 17mpg, the "chav" image, (not exactly Subaru`s fault I know) and the general unrefinement.

My initial test-drive impressions of the GTI were first-class ! Quality, refinement, looks, handling and performance; all in one complete package, and one that I just can`t wait to drive.

Hopefully then, I`ll be collecting it on Monday. It`s not a new one, but is on an `05 plate, in black, with the standard 17`alloys, the cloth trim, and either luxury pack 1 or 2 (not sure yet, until I get to go into it more   :embarassed:)

pukka stuff

the scoobys do have that mfi feel dont they... as if they havent been finished...
take the drive train and engine out and like any other jap motor.
engine goes good in a beetle though

Yeah, the Scooby is pretty quick (mine`s got the PPP on it, so 305 bhp), but I wanted something that gave a quality-feel and image, but still retained the performance, and the GTI fitted the bill.

TBH, it`s a car that I`ve always wanted, but never bought for whatever reason, so I just cannot wait now to pick it up, and put it through its paces   :grin:
