spent half an hr down at the motor factors we have decided that my car has been decated and now the front pipe that replaced the cat thingy is blowing ,does anyone know
A) will a 92 j reg driver get thro mot without cat
B) which pipe from another model will be an easy replacement is about 35" long straight sort of pipe

your lucky its not a front pipe for your audi... if it was there is a whole world of hurt...
mates old v6 was gonna cost him £1300 all for a bloken flange.... where did i put my welder!!!!!!!
if it was std with the cat its gonna need one....

you dont need to tell me about the pain thats involved in owning an s car , i had a cat back stainless fitted this yr as it was only £50 dearer than the audi backbox, :cry: :cry:

I think its all cars post 93 are meant to have cats, and be checked for emmision ratings, although i could be mistaken. Just had a look on GSF and the only parts i can find are these.
21330 SHORT PIPE 54.5mm G2 1.6 Carb (With Catalyst) 8/88 >10/91 £4.75

Seems a bit cheap really and i always thought the cat was the centre section :huh:

it's K - reg onwards that need a cat..they started august? 1992 so yours should be ok

My J-reg 91 1.6 Driver hasnt got a cat!
Im pretty sure the cat was fitted on K- plate upwards?!

Cat only required on vehicles registered on or after 1st August 1992.
