that petrol fire last sunday has burnt all the optimax  apparently theres none for the forseeable future
gonna have to use bp ultima instead
-
BP Ulimate came out very well in the fuel study done by EVO magazine (current issue). They used a Mk5 GTI for the tests too!
-
I have noticed that Optimax is becoming very scarce in London.
When I stopped at the shell at Stirling corner on Tuesday, 3 pumps were out of Optimax and unleaded.
This morning only 4 unleaded pumps and 2 Optimax working. (out of 16)

On the topic of fuel has anyone tried out this new tesco 99Ron stuff?
-
I've tried Tesco's 99ron and my car loved it

its ok - cheaper than ultimate/optimax, car seems to love it
-
Tesco 99 Ron has some ethanol in it to raise the RON. No detergents though apparrantly, unlike Optimax or Ulitmate.

Dont worry, everyone lied to us and George best was not burried in his home town, he was burried in hemel Hempsted

In news said it was avation fuel?
-
it was a plant that held aviation fuel, (which would explain the ease at which it exploaded) some agricultural and some public.
I seriously doubt it was all the optimax as it was one of 56 (??) holding bays around the country, its probably just the surrounding area that has been shafted.

-
no optimax sortage here, not tried any of the tesco 99ron in mine yet but the other day i was low on fuel and had to put sainsburys super unleaded in, what a pile of crap!! the car drank a tenners worth straight away!!!, back to shell it was then. lol
-
ottershaw shell lied! i just got some from guildford
-
i live about 4 miles away n theres not much ultimate or optimax round here. went to about 4 different petrol stations yesterday to find some normal unleaded. took forever
-
I think optimax is a waste of money. All my tank fulls I've tried feel a lot better when I leave the forecourt, but after a few miles it feels just like standard unleaded. The tesco's Super I've been using stays as smooth as day 1 all through the tank's contents. And it's cheaper.
-
your 1.8 T may actually be better off on 95 RON mate.
-
ok so maybe im just being stoopid by there definately seems to be no optimax at all in the 5 bristol shell garages, anyone have any clue when it should be around again as i dont even have a local BP I can go to.
