Title: Removing white dials
Post by: Maltloaf on 15 December 2005, 19:00
Hi,

Is it easy to remove white dials from a 91 8v Digi? I have a set on my car and they have faded to a gross orangey colour. When the car starts you can still see where the needle was.

I had a look at a new set of clocks on ebay but finding the right sort can be a pain and if it is easy to remove them I might as well do that one weekend.

Cheers

Matt B.

when i wanted new clocks i put out a call for them on 24/7 spares and by the morning i had phone calls from about 6 scrappys/breakers etc... and they all had piles of clocks of every sort for mk2s, so if you pursue that route itll only cost ya about 5 mins internet time and around 15 quid for the clocks :D , i have no idea about changing dials tho,i was gonna do that too but i couldnt be arsed to piss around taking my clocks back out again,
good luck anyway mate

Mine also had white dials on when i bought it. I thought they were too chav so set about removing them. Turns out they were just a stick on face ontop of the origional. Took the dials apart and peeled the faces off and job done. Its fiddly but if your careful not a problem. The only prob i found was that they left sticky bits of glue behind.

Hi

Sorry to bring up an old post but the Rallye i have just brought also has white dials fitted. They have also painted the needles. I'm guessing i will need to remove the whole clocks, feel off the white dials and somehow replace the needs with new ones. Anyone got any laying around. i am assuming they just pull off like a clock hand.

Cheers

Knobby.

ive got my old driver clocks still but i assume being only 120mph clocks that they wont work for you, plus it didnt have a rev counter, however you can have the needles if you want?

ha yeah i did see, well a black mk1 piloted by a loon. his car looked funny, actually like he'd stuffed it on the way up there! was a cool day, saw a few really nice golfs and my favourite V-tech mini clubman again.  Oh and there was an awesome caddy too, not seen it before but was
