Hi all its time i showed my 91 8v gti some love and attention and gave her a service i ve just got a couple of questions. What plugs should i get are things like splitfires or super 4s worth it or should i just stick to the standard stuff. I want to go semi synthetic with the oil, same again is any one better than the other for the 8v. And i was going to change the dizzy cap and rotor arm but I'm think i read some were that there were about 3 differant kinds and even with an engine number you can still get the wrong one, I might of made that up in my head lol. And going off the subject i noticed on the inside of my petrol flap it says to run my car on 98 ron not 95 is this right as i ve never heard any one mention it be-for and Ive been running it on 95 since i had the car with no problems. Cheers for any answers!!!!

Feed it optimax, you'll notice the difference
as for the rest prob best to search through here for the clues, its all round somewhere. I did the same when i got my 8v 2 months ago.

Oil- Synta Silver from VAG- cheap and the lube of choice. Same goes for the filter- VAG all the way.
AS for plugs, I use the Bosch ones, but can't remember the exact code.
Re fuel, Optimax makes a bit of a difference, but if the timing has been retarted to run on 95 ron all should be OK.
The the rotor arm and dizzy cap- get the genuine ones from GSF or Eurocarparts- give them the engine details and they should sort you out.
Don't forget to do a full engine flush prior to the oil change- get rid of all the gunk.
Enjoy!

Try http://www.vwspares.co.uk, cheaper than GSF and all good quality OEM equivilant parts :)
Their site is also much easier to understand and most of the parts have clickable links and piccies ;) Only thing they don't sell is synta silver, so either pop down to VW or GSF to get some.
