im running around in a 87-88 mk2 gti 8 valve, the exhaust is sounds really meaty but looks normal, it has 2 pipes at the back.
any idea's?
-
run the engine.
go to the back and cover the exhaust holes with your hands (use gloves if your gay )
now listen for any air leaks in the exhaust system :smug:
-
could be the baffles in the rear box dislodged, does it rattle?
-
nah, no leak, no rattle. no glove
-
Could be that someone had set the timing wrong. Mine, unbeknownst to me was set at idle when it should have been set at 2500rpm. When it was put right the exhaust suddenly became quiet and bearable! It also gained a lot more power and became much easier to drive. It also gained about 8mpg around the streets.
If its an early digifant engine you have, its worth checking.
