Title: engine conversion??

if i were to want a gti engine in my 1600 driver, what would that entale???

ermm a gti engine, loom, rad possibly, uprated brakes, new engine mounts, a good week to a months work depending on how capable you are.

and the fuel lines etc unless your planning on running it on carbs...then there's the rear beam so you have the discs and ARB that comes with it...

loads of work is what it entails!lolsorry dude just go for it if youre gonna do it,do it!its gonna be hard work and alot of nuckles will be lost but its all for a good cause!

Plus the fuel pumps if going to injection, and possibly the tank too as I think the GTI tank has baffles in it?

But at the end of the day 'why build something you can buy'

if you are gonna do it put a big fu.ck off engine in it and atleast make it go like fu.ck!lol
your best best as already advised is to just buy it and then mod it its easyier!

Is there anywhere I can find out about putting a 1.8 Turbo in my 8v GTI, or putting a 2 litre 16v in and then addding a turbo after?

Haribo, just but a Gti Head on it, with Cam, etc, Gti exhaust, blank off injector holes, then get a 1.8 Driver Carb? Hey Presto... A Golf GT...!  :wink:

To avoid all the wiring problems, why not do a 16valve on webers! that would shift!

the idea was a bad one, ill just stick to the engine ive got now and then buy a gti when i can afford the insurance, bet i can make a good few bob for my driver if i sell it as it is, thats if i havent blown it up by then

Haribo, if your interested there is garage near my house with a White Mk2 8v Gti in the back of their forecourt for £700. 102,000 miles on a G-plate. Looks mint!  :smiley:

This mk2 has been sat on a grannys driveway for months near my girlfriends house. Everytime i drive past it i cry! So i called in and gave her my number as she said it was her grandsons. He txt me asking if i wanted it.  :cool:
Has rust on doors, bootlid, and other places i expect. 4 flat tyres, but its Helios Blue, lowered, 17s, scorpion Exhaust (full s/s). Gotta b worth it!
