ahh the plastic trim on a mk5... fitted enough phone kits in these now! it clips out, be gentle but firm is my advice. (trust we're talking about the surround of course).

yeah the last thing i wanna do is scratch the plastic trim .. so im assuming this just pulls out .. around the centre console. then i can just insert some radio removal tools on either side to slide the old CD player out ..

just asked: get a trim tool or something with a wide flat face then go in at the sides against the soft plastic dash. Carefully prise it out, slowly making your way round!

most of the middle of the dash comes out as well

you'll need a facia panel to fit a DIN sized radio with is autoleads part number FP-17-03 :)

sorted only took about 5 mins to get the trims off.. but helps to know where the clips are !

best to take the heater trim off first as the clips fit into the radio trim .. if you just push it up the clips pop out then .. you can just pull the radio trim off..

only 6 screws in total .. didnt take that long .. antenna cable just threaded through back of dash ..
