Hi, ive wired in my new install and inverted the sub, to show off the chrome flamed basket, is this going to affect performance?
-
it makes the volume in the box larger giving a different sound. I'll handle longer lower bass better. A smaller volume in the box is more punchy.
-
there will be hardly no noticable performance difference as said above all it does is add a bit more air to the inside of box.
have you swapped the wires to out of phase?? because the sub should sound better then.
-
thanks for the info, im useless at ICE. i dont know...
it was wired in by a shop in the corsa i had, when i got the golf i ripped it out and decided to invert the sub.
it has 2 connections on it, each side of the sub,
one wire comes from the amp, into the sub, and then another set of wires bridge off this, to the other side of the sub?!
its an audiobahn 1200se (flame design)
cheers for your help
also, any recomendations for a decent set of componants, instead of the 6x9s in the shelf atm.

dual voice coil then. just try swapping pos and neg over on the amp and see what it sounds like:)
try www.utopiaaudio.co.uk/powerbass_XD_E.shtml (http://www.utopiaaudio.co.uk/powerbass_XD_E.shtml)
thats what i am running and would recommend them as would anyone who has heard them:)
-
ok will try that.. it sounds okish at the mo but not confinced its as good as it was?!
you have an email about those speakers as i gues its your shop??
-
just swapped the wires over... why does it sound so much better???
-
its not my shop i just work for them.
the reason it sounds better is because the sub is now positioned back to front so when it should be firing forwards(out of box) it is actually firing into the box. so by swapping wires it actually fires out when it should.
hope this helps.
youll have to get some pics up:)
-
i will organise pics of the car, and install....once ive cleaned it, and tidied up the wires!!!! :/

just need to tidy the wires up, and make a false floor to hide the amp away
