Title: Faulty BOV?
Post by: jc.. on 05 December 2005, 21:51
When lifting right off the accelerator and again when accelerating from a coasting situation I get a little "blip" or hesitation in the power delivery, almost like a "cough".
Do you think the BOV is sticking ?

(BTW standard 1.8t, S/S induction system (symptoms same before and after fitting)

I also have a blip in the throttle (v.small) sometimes when sitting at traffic lights. Its a cable throttle so I can't explain it unless it is sticking a little.

any thoughts?

doesnt sound like the typical symptoms of a faulty dv.. they dont tend to 'stick' as such anyway.
could be the start of the all-too-common maf fault, or could just be some muck in your throttle body that needs cleaning out.

what you describe is happening to the throttle at traffic lights sounds normal, you'll also notice it if you turn the aircon/climate on orr off while at standstill.

cheers, MAF looks almost new, just fitted a cone filter induction system (no not K&N or oiled..) seems to have helped a little, I haven;t noticed it as much.
that and I can't stop smiling as I have a new Milltek turbo back system in place as of tonight....great noise, can't say I am noticing nexk snapping difference in power with the two of them
