Title: Help for a newbie!

Hi all - Just bought myself a Mk 3 GTI to go along with my Mk 4 1.8T - actually this is my second Mk 3 having had a previous GTI before the Mk 4.

However, the interior door handle seems to have packed up - I now have to drop the window to pop the door open.

Was wondering if anyone had experienced a similar problem and if so, how I go about fixing it?

By way of info, it sounds as if the interior handle is still moving the cable around - could it just have dropped of something inside?

take off door card, investigate! If you can hear the rod still moving around it sounds like it's become unattached at the lock end...

Aye, as per what Dom said.

I had a similar problem when I refurbed my door card's it came undone, just investigate.
