Title: 1.9 GT TDI PD 100 (100bhp): 42.8mpg, 143g/km
Post by: gibson on 02 December 2005, 18:42
I just purchased one of tese today on a 52 plate. At the minute its at the other end of the country but it should be here next week. I wanted a 150 or 130 but i got a good deal on this so i hope it aint too slow   :undecided:

ANyway just want to know if someone can point me in the direction of any links with good info on this model and does anyone know if there are any mods to be done to these to increase performance ( not including sticking a new engine in it  )

Thanks people, hope this is a good replacement for my old mk2 gti ;)

you  can, but you don't get many horses for your dollar from the common rail diesel engines.

best bet is probably to improve the handling as best you can, arb's, coilovers etc.. that way you can take advantage of the low down torque when exiting corners/roundabouts.

Ok great help thanks. How disappointed will i be do ya reckon?? Any one have one of these 100bhp models?? I had a 1.8 gti 8v mk2 but it was written off. I never did floor that much as i preferred to keep it in best nick i could. Same with this, i intend to make it me pride and joy lol

Just wondering if there was a way to say get another 20-30 bhp out of it for the future maybe. Not looking to spend massive amounts on engine work. More of a audio fan meself, thats where me moneys going

The 100bhp may be a pd after all.
I have a 04 plate touran with a pd 100bhp engine, and it does go well, so in a golf it certainly won't be underpowered.
By the way, you can re-map the 100bhp model to 150bhp

if it's on a 52 plate there is a good chance it will actually be a 115bhp model and therefore will indeed be the PD version......could be wrong like but you never know....

The garage told me it was 100bhp and as i dont get it till tomorrow i cant check if its a 115bhp!

Re-map it to 150bhp is exactly what id be wanting to do. Is this qn easy job to do ?? how much would it cost and also is there any links out there of similar 150bhp's done ??

Thanks

not too bad mate to be honest. MPG is bloody amazing, done just over 200 mile last night and couldnt believe it!! I was well impressed wth the car. Had some major cramp in me legs after i got out though, now its time to get the ICE install done, dont know who at VW had the bright idea of installing a CASETTE player  :   with the CD player
