Hey, i am thinkin of puttin a roll cage in my 3 door 8v mk2 GTI, but, i would like to keep the rear seats.
Does anyone know of this? Can you get cages that would fit around this or is a custom job?
Do you think it will look daft?
Advise please guys!!!

yes its called a half cage, bit awkward to get in but does work.
-
yeah i have seen those but im really wanting a full one- i should have said in my post...sorry1
Cheers

full cage i would be doubtful, the need to be mounted onto the wheel arch mouldings on the inside of the car, a full cage isn't really practical for keeping the back seats in. Half is going to be the option you are left with.

Sorry to hijack this thread but ive always wanted a rollcage! Trouble is i got a 5dr. Do you reckon that will look pants?  :undecided:
-
Yeah i know what you mean. Just thought id ask and see if anyone had seen it before and if theres any way around the obvious problems.
Its either get rid of the seats or forget about a full cage then! Decisions decisions!
Thanks for reply though

Si- i had a 5 door before getting this and always thought the same thing. I really dont know. Im guessing you would also have to use a half cage, otherwise there'd be no point in havin rear doors if theres no seats because youve taken them out for a full cage!
Dunno though!

dont get a roll cage just for looks unless its fully functional, will be a waste of money and youll just be adding weight :nerd:
