Post by: Haribo! on 01 December 2005, 03:53
im 20 and im getting inpatient waiting for the right time to get a gti, and no where seems to be capable of getting me a quote at the moment, had anyone insured a gti at 20? what sort of price am i looking at? should i try and hold on until im 21 with 2 years no claims?
and lastly is there ever a point where you say" right ,i have a fast enuf car now" and dont need a faster one?  :undecided:

Hi, I'm 20 aswell, I have TPFT insurance with elephant on my 8v GTI, and it costs £725 for the 10 month Bonus Accelerator, which is pretty reasonable, oh thats with 0 ncb too.

The days of decent insurance quotes seem to be long gone, I had my first valver at the age of 19 and was paying £500 odd tpft

I'll agree with stevie, elephant do seem to be reasonable. I had quotes of £400 for a second runabout last winter and got it through elephant for £130 in the end!!! I think it does have something to do with the fact that you're only getting 10months insurance though.

just a note on the 10 month "bonus accelerator", in that no other insurance company will accept it as one years no claims! I found out to my loss in my ealry driving years!

I'd suggest swapping to a full plicy before you leave elephant!

Oh I was paying £800ish at 21 with no NCB fully comp on a 1990 valver!

that too many years ago now though!

Just got my first Mk2 GTi 8v and has cost me £240 TPFT with elephant, it was the cheapest by about £200, what makes it worse is im 28 so expected it to be less still.  Oh well being as i'm paying the insurance, i'm just gonna have to drive it more
