Don't listen to him - he's freakin' fruit loop

Seriously though, Simon is a very good source of info for mk1's, even certain powerplanted mk1's!! :lipsrsealed:

Cheers guys, some good links there.

Do any of the 2.0 bottom ends just bolt straight up to my 8v head?

And does anyone know anything about using the bits from a turbo diesel VW to turbo my engine?  Read a thread on vwvortex about it, but got lost half way through it!

My mate used a turbo diesel manifold on a mark 2 8valve bottom end, requires a bit of grinding but other than that i think its ok, but if you want to use a T3 turbo or something similar then it wont directly fit on the manifold. Keep you eye out on ebay for turbo technics manifolds

Was also reading that you can mate the compressor housing of an Audi or Saab petrol turbo, to the other half of the TD turbo.  So it fits to the manifold but gives better power further up the rev range.

As with all these things, I guess it's a case of trial and error!

definately. home bad turbo conversions are all like that, my mate made his own manifiold byt chopping and welding an 8 valve manifold, it worked but then the oil seals on the turbo went and had oil pi**in out every where. Everyone has there own ideas all u can do is try them, no harm in that
