yup. saw a 1.6 Driver with twin carbs on just over a year ago, Looked like sex  :smiley:

Prepare for silly MPG though - at full throttle the performnce of identical Carb and full injection setups is pretty much identical.

Any other times carbs just aren't very efficent - I had a barking mad XR2 in my younger days with a load of head work / cam and a set of DCOE 40's and a full tank would barely last 150 miles !

But it was almost worth it for the the noise hmmmmmm  :grin:

If my Valver wasn't a daily drive I'd be after a set of DCOE 45's for her ;)

As for what you'd need here's a rough list ....

1. Inlet manifold to match the carbs you've chosen, these can be different if side or down draught
2. Uprated fuel pump - ideally a 'Facet' jobby
3. Fuel pressure regulator
4. the carbs themselves (ofcourse :))
5. Carb linkage assembly
6. Twin cable throttle cable
7. Air filter(s)
8. Trumpets for the carbs
9. Most important of all is to get the jetting and fueling setup right for your engine's requirements !

As you can see you'll need around £500 to get this project of the ground and plenty of planning and time. Might be cheaper to do a GTI transplant maybe ?!?!

I was toying with the idea for my dirver about a year ago, bought the carbs (weber dcoe 40's) but never gpt round to do anything with them.

To be honest if its ur daily driver then dnt do it because its gonna be absalutely rediculous on fuel, in fact you could prob see the fuel gage going down! But that sound is awesome tho isnt it!

go to any rally there is usually escorts there and listen to the mark 1 and mark 2 escorts, they come sideways round the corner "barking" at you! awesome!

My grandad had a Ford Escort RS2000 (before i was born, damnit) with twin 45s and he said the Speedo Went up like a Rev Counter, but the fuel guage went down like the speedo would

ha ha i can only imagine! my valver isnt exactly great on fuel, i dread to think what that was like, but worth it isnt it! i think so anyway

G60 16v, carbs would be poor, ITBs with fully mappable ECU, would cost a bomb, but would be worth it...
