Has any1 any idea which fuse number it is for the dash lights? i have no lights on my dash apart from my hazard, rear window heater, fogs and my lights on the heater function.
In the dark i can't see anything at all, how fast i'm going, how much petrol etc....
Any help would be great..
cheers lads.. :D

Check its not the bulbs gone, as the Dash lights usually run off the sidelights
-
Don't know about that its a right job to take the unit out of the car.. VW charge ?160 to replace all the bulbs in that part... :o
-
Taking the dash out is a 10 minute job on my MK1, cant imagine it being much harder on a Mk2 then the bulb just half-twist into the top of the instrument module

The instrument lights don't hava a fuse as they are low draw.
If your facia lights are working ('hazard, rear window heater, fogs and my lights on the heater function') then it's to do with the dash bulbs themselves (or might be earth wire which is also behind dash [from memory]). All the dash/facia lights have a common origin from the light switch/dimmer circut (at least that was the case with my late 89 16v).
And yes getting a MkII dash out is a pain, cause you've got to remove ALL the housing.

renewed the bulbs on my 16v jetta once, its a pain in the ass fiddly job but a little patience and perseverence is all you need

I got some mk2 switches from the scrappy and used them to replace the dash bulbs. Was a swift job. :)

this might sound funny but have you turned the brightness down on the dash lights ? i had the same problem i found out that when i cleaned the dash on my car i knocked the dash brightness down . there should be a small wheel on the right hand side of the clocks. :)

Don't forget to replace all the bulbs whilst the dash cluster is out, be silly to replace one, put it all back in then a week later another old one goes.

did you check the dimmer switch ?
