Hi Dani,

Did you have the problem before you changed all the bits that you changed?

If so, I think I would check the ignition timing next.

If it is the timing then this will do more worse than good...but...

I just got a mk2 that had been standing for two years...similair problem...very stuttery...(if thats a word!) Found it better in 4th and 5th but 2nd was awful...Remedy:Full tank of optimax (from shell higher octane!) and some redex fuel+injector cleaner...

...and a full days high revs blowout! seemed to do the trick!after a few minutes of full acceleration the injectors cleared and we were off! still slight cold start problem but seems to have done the trick!

As I said if there is some problem with timing or other actual "fault" then this will most probably make it worse...but it worked for me!

I agree it is probably the timing but a friend had the same problem with his MK1 gti and it turned out to be fuelling which eventually cause his 1.6 to drop a valve, so the mechanic that rebuilt the engine said, I'd get it down to a garage as soon as and get some one to have a look at it rather that than have to fork out a load of cash on a rebuild.
