should be interesting to see such an aspiring GP rider go into F1, could be good as he is bit of a crazy f**k on track sometimes. As long as he doesn't jump out the cockpit and try to lean the car into the corners.
-
Ferarri want him when Schuey retires, he'll be nuts
-
Aye i have been reading about this over the past few months, he was putting in some very competitive times in the car when testing, but then i think he crashed out in testing earlier in the year. :undecided:
I suppose it depends on how long herman the german wants to keep racing, if he wins the up coming season i cannot see him retiring for a while yet.
-
Nah, I reckon this is his last season, just hope rossi wont be a dirty bastard like Schuey
-
I reckon it'd be shart if Rossi goes to F1. The 'sport' will suck the life right out of him... compare the two types of characters - F1 drivers are all nerds hellbent on being corporate niceboys and the media slates anyone with even the mildest of personalities... MotoGP on the other hand is populated by nutters who appreciate the fun of racing while still getting the job done. If Rossi moves (and I suspect that when Cyril Sneer finally does leave Ferrari he will) he will be rebadged and rebranded and you won't see any of the funny monkeyman antics ever again...

yeah but ferrari also want to swap him for raikkonen with mclaren
-
Rossi doesnt want to do F1 for fun, he wants to do it to prove that he is the best on 2 and 4 wheels.
It would be more fun if he went in to WTCC but as Formula 1 is the most 'popular' type of racing he has to do it there.
He'd be great on WRC too...

Now you're talking... Remember the Pug 206 on RallyGB a couple years back? he was great until he crashed! I think he's got a major talent for 'feeling' cars and bikes... Difficult to describe really, but he's definately got more talent than most of the F1 robots out there. WRC would make better use of the talents IMHO...
-
He should do two seasons in f1, win in his second season, go to WRC, may take three or four seasons to win, then go back to bikes...

If he survives that long, the guy is nuts

Don't worry, He's immortal...

     nice one mate
-
I think he could be wat f1 needs if he's allowed to be himself
But I'd pay good money to see him WRC
-
Dunno if you guys know but rossi has been testing with the ferrari team this week, and hasnt been doing to shabby!!
-
yeah... worries me a bit.... Read his book at Christmas, and I'm not sure what to make of it all now... He seems to not like the Ferrari way of life, yet he keeps testing with them... I know I would give my left testicle to do that but I'm a mere mortal.
I think he might have future plans afoot. Anyone else think the same?

Rossi will have an F1 drive by 2008, bet ya :undecided:

next year!!!
-
nah  think he needs a bit longer than a year as a 'guest' test driver, not even a regular one. id rather gary paffet made it as a driver
-
2007 - He'll be a test driver, if one of Ferrari's normal drivers is 'injured' he'll race for them, I reckon his first appearance in a race will be Monza 2007 because Ferrari are just thinking of the PR. He'll finish 13th, and won't race again until 2008, when he signs as a team driver for Ferrari.
I can tell the future....wooooooo
-
He always 'offs' on his debut.... :smug:
-
I would hate to see him go to F1 and see it all go pete tong on him as having read his book as well, he doesnt like authority and F1 is so regimented. He would be such a loss to MotoGP as the new crop of rider are soooo boring (personality) like Dani Pedarosa.
But what a talent on a bike!!!!
-
Well, he drove a 2004 Aero Ferrari with a restricted engine and was only 2 seconds off Schuey in his Brand new v8.......
And thats his first go with other cars on the track, he is gonna stomp them....
-
you cant compare him in the test sessions, the cars dont really go out to get the best lap, its all about developing areas of the car. Anyway schueys v8 would be on maybe its 3rd or 4th outing whereas rossi's car is 2 years old and has been perfected already.
-
But the aero on the '06 cars account for at least a second difference, imo, if he was in the same car as schuey, he 'd get round there quicker with 20 more laps...
