if i am being stupid forgive me in advance!!!!!
i am having problem openning the boot?
-when you press the unlock on the key the boot does not automatically open
-when the keys are in the car the boot is not open
-i have to take the keys around the back then press the opeb boot key.
i think this is a pain, my wife has a lopo and when you open the car the boot opens also.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG, SURELY YOU DONT HAVE TO PRESS THE BUTTON EVERY TIME YOU WANT IN THE BOOT
-
does the lock on the boot itself have to be in a certain position??
Just a thought but i know that with my MK2 if the boot lock is in a different position then it is either permanetly open or permanetly locked.
Hope thats of some help
-
you open the boot by pulling and pushing the vw badge, there is no key, unlike my lupo or older models??????

Hi, I think you'll find you have to press the "boot unlock button" (centre button on the key) for a couple of seconds, the indicators should flash to tell you it's unlocked - be careful not to put the key in the boot because when you close the boot it locks automatically.
Alternative press the main unlock button on the key twice (once for drivers door only, twice for all doors inc boot), or press the unlock button on the drivers door - the boot should then stay unlocked until you press the lock button again.
If none of that works I think you might need to speak to the dealer cos that's how mine works.
-
yes this is how mines works, but it is sh!t!!!!!
when the key is in the car you can not open the boot without getting the key then pressing the middle unlock, i think this is sh!t!!!!
it would be so much easier if you only had to press the unlock on the car once then this opened everything

As I said before you don't need the key once you're in the car just press the button on the drivers door, or press the unlock button on the key if you prefer - there's no need to take the key from the ignition if you've already started the engine.
The reason it's set up like that is to make it harder for thieves to steal both the car and/or it's contents.
With the amount of car hi-jacking and theft from cars there is these days I personally think this is a very good feature, especially when you're a female traveling alone. So no, it's not sh!t!!! at all..................
Some time ago someone told me a dealer could reprogramme a similar system on an A4 to unlock everything with the press of one button, suggest you give VW a call and see if it's the same on the Golf.
-
in my opinion the system is sh!tT!!!!!!!
but i take your point of the button on the drivers side, that will handy to know, cheers!!!!!!
-
You can code this out using VAG com.

I found the whole boot unlocking scenario a pain in the butt so has VW reprogram my key so that a single press of the unlock button unlocks all the doors including the boot.
You can press and hold the unlock boot button on the keyfob for two secs to unlock the boot but there is no audible indicator that the boot has unlocked. I has the same system on my passat but that was better because after the two seconds, the boot made a "kerthunk" noise. It basically gave you some feedback that the boot had been unlocked so you didn't have to stand there looking lke an idiot!
