soooo, I've just got a Mk4 tdi estate (100bhp) as a new company car
very happy camper about this but a bit miffed about the handling, i had a focus estate before this and it stuck like poo to a blanket. I know the tires are 195 65 15 on steel wheels, can i anyone recommended any thing to crisp things up a bit? It feels great on the motorway but lousy on smaller roads. Would fitting a lower profile tire make much of a difference? I cant really get away with fitting coilovers but maybe gti springs?????? Any help/info would be appreciated.
I'm a bit new to the newer veedubs but Ive now got a MK1 MK2 and MK4 on the drive!!!! SWEET

the ARB's are the big let down on mk4's, i would presume even moreso on estates.. although not sure what is available in the way of an upgrade for them. hatcback owners use either neuspeed arb's or the ones from an R32.

I think basically the Focus is a very very good car dynamically in standard form. The mk 4 Golf is a poor car dynamically.... nice interior though!
an estate will probably just accentuate the problem as it compromises the rear susp set up.
I have always wished the Golf would drive like the Focus... From the reports, the mk5 does.

I don't mean to sound rude, But I would never wish my golf drove like a FORD
