Title: INSURANCE
Post by: Tornado on 20 November 2005, 16:00
Hi there
Does anyone know of any good insurance companies for new 17 yr old drivers?
My son hopes to get a Mk 1 as a first car and we wondered where the best insurance deals might be
Kind regards
Alan

What sort ok mk1 is he getting most people wont touch him on a gti, i think you can class any mk1 as a classic car now so try hic and go for the classic car route only draw back is that they go for limited milage on classics our mk1 is with them on a 5000 a year agrement and show cover

Younger drivers are better off asking elephant/admiral-same company but you get different quotes off them  ,thats wot ive found anyhoo
also, dont forget to put ur name down as a named driver, that will probs bring the quote down a tad, again, thats something ive found to happen

Hi

I was getting crazy prices when i first passed my test (churchill quoted over £3k ) then someone recommended a 6 month policy - it worked out to be around half the price of the annual policy but they gave me 1 years no-claims for the 6 months so the renewal was much cheaper (about the same as the first 6 months)

I used Kwik-fit for the first policy then changed to the AA once i had my no-claims

I always start here: http://www.confused.com/ .After I have the quotes from here then I try some other websites and then the free phone numbers, might be a scottish thing though trying to save more money. could try the back of car mags that 'specialise' in young drivers aswell. I hope he only wants a 1.1 or something like that! Have fun searching.

Cheers for the recommendation!! i work for hic/golf+ insurance and you are right we will do most mk1's as classic now, unfortunatly though we dont insure any one under 19. Not sure who to sugest for 17yr old, maybe adrian flux?? Sorry not much help i know but best of luck with it and give me a ring in a couple of years and i will do him a cracking deal!!
