whats the best gap for a mk1 golf 1.8 gti? i dont have an owners man and was wondering a. whats the gap ment to be b. has anyone found a diffent gap to be better? Cheers

Off the top of my head, I'm fairly certain its meant to be 0.025" although these days I tend to use the triple electrode plugs that don't need gapping.

thanks for the reply what is that in metric do you know?
only got metric guages
cheers

0.025" should equate to 0.635mm

I emailed ngk and the gap is actually ment to be 0.8mm which is what they come gapped as apparently but thanks for the reply
cheers ;)

That equates to 0.031".....seems a little large to me but there you go :-/, without my manuals to hand I'm not going to argue with NGK ;)

I just did a quick search here:-
http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/apps/cars_trucks_suvs/
They recommend a spark plug gap of 0.028" for a 1984 1.8 GTI Rabbit (Golf)
If I get time later I'll see what it says in my manual.
