Title: This optimax thing
Post by: 15 inches on 02 November 2003, 17:40
Just been reading the comments on optimax,is it really that good or what?
I tried it for a short time and found not a lot of difference-but ive been told that it takes  'a few tanks' !
I will try it again but are the benefits more mpg and performance or as im guilty of myself with small mods-that you want it to do better so you convince youself that it does :-\

open to all veiws

I use it because my mk2 needs a 98RON fuel. Definatly maked a slight difference. A friend of mine put it in his GTE 16v and it really made a difference. The exhust note became alot deeper.

it's true that a lot of other manufacturers engines perform differntly with different grade fuel.

I have a magazine which tried different RON types with different cars:

mk2 Golf
Renault 'ouef du chien'
Vauxhall whatever
and a
Ford

I think the Vauxhall and the Renault had miles better performance figures when on 98 - 110 RON when compared to running on 95 octane.

The VW had a slight performance boost.

Make up your minds about build quality of engines then . . . . .  ::)

I reckon it helps my economy and performance. It' also supposed to reduce engine wear, which must be a good thing. Worth it I reckon.
