Title: mk3 ignition

ok so winters here again and yet again my mums car isnt working too well due to the cold weather. Its happened twice today where she cant turn the key at all due to it freezing i think. does anybody have any ideas how to prevent this fromt happening? thnx

hmmmm.... well aside from the obvious wiggle the steering wheel while turning the key... Dunno why the ignition barrel would freeze, expecially if the door locks haven't?

Try shoving a load of WD40 in it . Or lock de-icer .

DONT use WD40 or lock de-icer as these strip all the lock grease from the lock!!!! The best thing to do with frozen locks is to warm the metal part of the key in a cup of boiling water and then insert. works for me every time :wink:

WD40 is fine, it will leave a residue of grease in the lock.
