Not sure about the disease'als, but the petrol comes in 1.8 turbo guise & is tuned to 180 bhp. They start at '02 reg, & go for about 9k+, atm.

Diesels are all 150 bhp I believe :undecided: and yes the petrols are 180bhp, just check out the trader for some prices, I'd have thought 9k is a bit cheap if you want a minter and the diesels will be more again :undecided: :undecided:

12k is the benchmark price. if you find one for 9k then either..

a) the owner is a flid, and doesnt know what they're selling
b) the car is a dog
c) its not an anni, but a gti/pd with a bodykit (most of the replicas wont have the black headlining or tartan cloth seats exclusive to the annis)

I just had a very quick look on the trader website, & the cheapest one was 9k. Didn't read it TOO carefully, perhaps it was a replica, then.

Only had 23k on the clock, too.

Do what I did, then..... Buy an older Turbo, colour code the front & rear valances, & get it re-mapped to 202 bhp

Have a look here:- http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=22939.0

I paid slightly over the odds for mine, coming from a dealer, but i have had over a £1000 worth of warranty work done, so was worth it, IMO..... I am a fussy sod, though!

My re-map (from Jabbasport) set me back £475, but I've never looked back!

The Golf is now MUCH quicker than my old GTi-6 (Only in a straight line, though )

I like mark 4's in silver.

I think when i can afford it i will make he upgrade ro something abit more luxurious. As my mark 2 valver has been in a crash (no fault of my own) they gave me a golf plus courtesy car and even tho its slow and is bottom of he range, its nice to drive round in something new! which is what has brought this on about wanting a mark 4!

have you got any pics of urs now?

I've got a reflex silver 25th GTI 180bhp and its bloody awesome.....one thing to look out for is corrosion on the alloys, this is a b!tch and a common problem on the 25th.  If buying one just this out first.  Dealers will replace them under warranty if pushed.

I've just had all four replaced for free......

Although I do love my Mk4 (even with only 150bhp) it's just not as involving to drive as some older cars. That's not always a bad thing though mind you, especially if you drive a fair distance regularly...but it seems like it almost drive's itself.

I think if I had a really nice Mk2 and my Mk4 and I was going out for a blast on the weekend it would be the key's for the Mk2 in my hand.
