i drive a 1989 golf clipper.its top speed at the moment is 90mph is this correct or should it go faster?can anybody help me please?
-
Top speed is listed as 111mph so I guess your's is a bit off. Not going up a hill with the roof down are you :P

Fifth gear on the 'Clipper' model was used as an over drive. like the 4+E boxes on other VW's.
Try using Forth gear and floor it, you will see a marked improvment in top speed but obviously more revs/noise.
-
it still does 90mph in forth.does anybody think getting it tuned would help?

drive along side a mate in their car and see if your clocks are reading the same first, then you should be able to establish if it is your clock or your car
