Title: Soundproofing replacement.
Post by: dan7 on 12 November 2005, 20:02
I need to replace the under carpet soundproofing in my passenger footwell. Called the main stealers and the stuff is discontinued. All the cars i see down the breakers have floating carpets. Has anyone replaced this stuff with anything different? If so - what, and does it work?????

Talk to these guys,

http://www.soundservice.co.uk/

I know somebody who has put in absolutely loads of all different kinds of sound proofing and he used the above company.
I have no idea on costs etc but on having a quick look they do what you need.

http://www.fatmat-uk.com/ is quite cheap compared to the dynamat stuff.

Also heard that using roof flashing tape from B&Q works well :)

John, he needs proper sound proofing for under the carpets, I wouldn't want to just use any dynamat type variant, he will need  a thick foam type product as well I would say.

the stuff under the carpets is basically just carpet underlay with a thick rubbery backing, 2 sheets of dynamat or equivilant will be just as good, if not better!

Edit:  That was the stuff I was trying to think of on MSN earlier
