Hello I'm after pic's of the Matrix Bypass valves installed on a 16valver, as my car has had the Matrix valves removed and the 2 hoses cut and joined back together with a piece of metal pipe so completely missing out the Matrix just 2 pipes sticking out the bulkhead...
Now i've fitted a new matrix and have bought a Samco kit with 7 hoses and worked out where 5 of the 7 go/replace but not sure about the last 2 hoses i assume and hope they go to the Matrix, both 16mm bore one is straight about 12" and the other is shaped like a big U i'm guessing its for a reason :undecided: but cant work out why and without the originals i'm stumped or are they for something else like guzzling Beer with?

i've fitted samco hoses but unfortunately on an 8v!! :laugh: mind you the heater matrix bypass valves are in the same place..... if you fancy zipping over to worthing tomorrow or something i don't mind giving you a hand. pm me if you want.

All the pipes are shaped to fit except two, so I didnt want to try forcing them to fit the wrong parts or to be told at a later date why have you put the hoses on there blah blah ..

Right the saga continues - Ive fitted all but 2 of these wretched hoses and there the 2 up to the Heater Matrix, they've both got a 16mm bore and my Matrix (Brand New VAG) seems to be too big and so does the Black thingy on the side of the block again far too big diameter even after leaving the hoses in hot water there still far too bloody small!!
So please please help as I phoned the suppliers and they were zero help saying I should phone Samco but they didnt know the phone no - really helpful :angry:
Ohhh and to top it off the top hose radiator plastic had been broken off in the old hose and bodged before, so now I need a new rad :sad::cry:

Alright Mate,
I recently knocked the heater bypass valves on the head as the replacement I had went again! I bought a 1 metre of cheap hose, cut them to size and put them on. However, the connecting pipe that sticks out of the block had a larger diameter than any of the others. It took me bloody ages to get the hose over it and clip it up (boiling hot water and shear determination!)
Maybe worth looking at the original pipe to see whether one end has a larger diameter (it wouldn't surprise me) - I haven't looked and only just thought about it, as i'm curious aswell now!!
Lost lots of sweat, tears and skin trying to get them on!
My engine is only an 8V, but still had the large connection.

Right having tried fitting hoses which seemed to be for the Matrix I now discover that it'll only fit the Matrix IF you have had the bypass valves fitted :angry: well I have a newer Matrix which doesnt need them!!
Phoned Samco and they say they've had a few people with the MK2 not knowing where the U shaped hose fits and they are looking into it as it seems not all Mk2 owners have the Bypass valves!!!
So hopefully it'll be sorted very soon :lipsrsealed:

just to make life worse...... samco are a nightmare about getting parts made up. i know a guy who orders with them quite alot and they can take months to make up a hose.

nice and shiney joe and them pipes look sweet although i dont know how you keep up with these other cars without any ht leads or a radiator :S
