Title: 150 to 200 BHP TDI modifications
Post by: Geezer@ on 31 October 2003, 21:04
What mods do i need to make to get an extra 50 bhp from the standard 150TDI (03 model year).

Manifold & complete exhaust?

Chip/black box?

Anything else?

Cheers.

If anybody has already made changes, I would be interested in how increasing the BHP has altered the real time performance. (IE - turbo spins up quicker/earlier & pulls longer through rev range)

As far as I know you need either your chip re-setting but the better way to go is fitting an adjustable tuning box which will take it to about 180bhp. Can also fit a K+N Panel filter which should release about another 7 bhp. Lastly go for your exhaust. You can fit a "Cat-Back" system or go for a complete system from the manifold. There is a thread on here about the Milltech exhaust that you might find interesting. Hope this helps. Kev.

Hi

My GTI 150 PD has been Revo'd, no other mods except fast road pads. It develops about 190bhp and 300ft lb of torque.

I've avoided different filters, as the MAF sensor is the first thing to suffer if you increase the airflow through the system.

The Milltek cat back system is supposed to be pretty good, but not sure how much difference it will make, other than the sound.
