Title: Should i sell my golf???
Post by: TIM20 on 08 November 2005, 13:23
Im thinking of selling my golf

Its been a great car but im planning to do more motorway miles in the future so im thinking of getting a mk3 vr6.

I have got a mk2 16v late spec 3 door with 90k on the clock

has anyone got any experience of vr's.  Will i be dissapinted with one as the golf is ace to drive.

Also what kind of prices are golfs fetching now, its completely std and rolay blue (the mk2) just don't want to give it away

If its tidy, you should get between £1000-2000.
Mk2's hold their value so well.
Surely if your planning more mtorway miles, getting a VR is a bad idea? 2.8 litres! Better off with a TDI or GT-TDI. Good performance and good fuel economy?!

Going from a mk2 to a mk3 you will be disapointed. There just so boring....

Plus if your gonna be doing more miles then you defo dont want a vr6! That thing will drink petrol like there is no tomorow!

My advice, get your valver converted to run on lpg gas for motorway journeys.

Gonna do more miles u need a tdi 130 or 150 mate 6speed gearbox's and pd engines, great for economy, and power.

I went ot see a vr today

Not quite what i was after but it sounded fantastic!!!

Wasn't advertised properly didn't have leather etc like the ad said and had a tow bar! of all things

Why would i want a tow bar on a vr6? fastest carravan around contest

But i have decided the mk 2 will be going in the near future sadly (would love to have both)

Kakka PM me if your interested in the car as im thinking of taking the tan leather i have in it out and replacing it with the original rainbow interior but if i could see as whole it would make life easier.  I have loads of pics etc.  But in no real hurry to get rid

dont get a mk3, youll regret it for the rest of your days,a mk2 is a car of its own, even tho a mk3 is still a golf it just isnt in the same league, i quite like my golf on the moterway, tends to be pretty smooth, but i may just be lucky

Don't sell it, you WILL regret it. I still regret selling my 16v last year.

VRs get a top of about 28mpg even conservative motorway driving. Not worth the bother tbh.
