Just a quick question some of you may be able to help with....
i've got a 1990 3 door 8v GTI and since i got it home the doors handles/catches haven't worked properly! its seems as if when you pull the trigger it just kinda misses the catch.... :undecided: i have replaced the passenger side handle already (as that was the worst offender) but its still crap, and now the drivers is doing it too! it take me ages of pushing and pulling and pissing about before i can get into it! i have ordered some MORE new handles, a different type, not triggers...
do you think will solve it???
is this a common problem???
and if new handles won't solve it, what will??
HELP! :embarassed:

take off the handles and grease the mechanisms! worked a treat on my mk1 cabriolet. i would think it's similar in mk2's. my mk2 handles seem to work fine so i've not bothered.

aye its surprising what a difference greasing the latches & mechs makes! Even brand new genuine VW ones need lubing up or they bind like feckers!

Yep, I agree with Jonny, bought 2 new vw handles and both were in great need of some lube

hi ya babe!hows you?when i put my delocked handles on mine it did it cos you have to swap the mech's over just get some super lube in there and push the trigger in and out and in no time at all the'll be as good as new!
ps sorry about the pics babe it dont seem to want to know when i go to paste them in all i get is the option to delet not paste and that with photo bucket.maybe i pc has lost the will to live???lol
