Title: seriously strange starting issue??!!...mk3 1.4

hey

its my brothers car with the issue, its a 1992 1.4 3 door... tis a weird one, basically itll start, but if you start it normally itll conk out imediately, but if you start it, rev it and then turn the key to the off and then quickly to the on position itll run perfectly fine...!! the stater motor is on the way out, i know that as it makes a weird 'errr' noise when you start the car, but that wouldnt cause that sort of problem surely?? any ideas guys??!

Once you have started the car the 'dodgy' way, how far are you able to travel without the car cutting out or does it not cut out?

hmmmm , try changing the ignition barrel on it . Sounds like a dodgy connection when you turn back down from 2 [?] to 1 .

hi when you take out the igntion barrel check the terminals on the back of swicth as they do have a tendancy to burn out
