Nice  I actually used t-cut & polish under my bonnet when i first got my car (it was the first time i could even consider it so i was well keen) it looked great for about a month then went to crap again. looking at your pics i think its time i did it again.

Now thats how a Mk1 engine bay should look like - well done... so what goodies did you use to clean it? (I use oven cleaner - works A1 on the engine itself)
-
Looks tidy does that. What did you use then, come on tell us !
-
im actually scared to clean mine incase i like knacker sumthing.. :undecided:
Dinx

Looks stunning Tara, mine looks like a sh1t heap under the bonnet :embarassed: I've cleaned it up a few times, but some of the old parts are just tatty and need replacing.
-
^and thats another reason why i aint cleaning it...cant see the tatty bits under the muck..
Dinx

I want to jet wash my engine, mate said its safe but i am scared incase i too knacker something!
p.s very tidy car all round!
there is something about a mark 1 in mars red that sets it apart isnt there!
-
Jet wash??? thats a bad idea, even if you're really lucky and manage to do it without soaking your electrics (unlikely) all that grease & grime actually protects your engine & ancillaries from the nastly salty water that deperately wants to attack your car :nerd:
I prefer black ones myself

^oh..so many comments...

My mate (ryoungmk1gti) left his oil fller cap off and after a rag it resulted in oil spilling everywhere, and he jet washed his, with the enigne running, said it was alright, prob just need to make sure you get the right bits!
-
I'm with MK1MADJ on this, I'd never jet wash my engine, I was always warned off about steam cleaning them too for the very reasons mentioned. Each to their own and unless your gonna pop your bonnet at a show and show off the bling and cleanliness then I can't really see the point.

well no, i havnt done it, and prob wont ever but is because my first valver had a nice clean engine but my current one is a bit grubby!
thats if it ever sees the light of day again, it has been touched in a week!
