Title: Water on fuse box *help*

Had a problem with the indicators they decide not to work yesterday, so i pulled the relay and it was full of water!

Argghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I have uincliped the fuse box and i can't for the life of me see any other signs of water!

Also when i unclipped the fuse box i noticed that under the drivers front whhel was a puddle of water (now the car is in the garge so it should be dry, so i am guessing i have disturbed a blockage? but where, i thought it should all be sealed!

Please help!

First of all check your drainage channels are clear, remove the plastic scuttle cover under the bonnet in front of the windscreen. Either side there is a hole in the inner wing where water should drain through then out of the bottom of the wing behind the wheel. These are often blocked with leaves etc so give them a good clean out. In the past I have seen the blanking panel under the ECU (where the heater fan would be on a LHD) start leaking when the sealant starts to crack. Pour some water around this area and look up underneath the dash to see if it's coming in round this blank. If so just clean up the area around it under the bonnet and run a line of silicone sealant round it.

Thanks Tobz, the channel is clear but there is a cable coming out of it? should this be there, i think it part of the alarm system, i am thining water might be traveklling doen this and dripping on the fuse box as the alarm is above the fuse box?

Would that make sense?

I'll try what you suggest anyway, just in case

I think the bonnet release cable emerges from the drainage channel (I'm not 100% on that though) so that could be it. Definately check all the rubber grommets around any cables that pass through the bulkhead especially if they have been added in at a later date e.g. alarm cables. I know the bonnet release cable grommet is a strong candidate for leaking and filling your footwell.
I'd remove as much trim as possible under the dash, unclip the fusebox and move it out the way. Then put a hosepipe on the scuttle panel with a moderate flow and stick my head up under the dash and wait for the leak to rear its ugly head. This method has helped me find leaks in the past.

Tobz, your a star!

Just did some testing and found out that under the ign/module the blank panel where the heater would have gone on a left hand drive, there were 4 screws sticking through! the dip sh!t that had fitted the alarm on the car (over 5 years ago) and screwed the main steal case part of the alram up through there!

So at least i have found where the water is leaking in, so what to do, should i remove the alarm casing and block the hloes up? i have no idea where it can go as all the wires have been cut to length so not much romm for it to move!

or should i just silicone up over the screw ends sticking through?
