I have got my 55 gti in black on a euro import for £18400 last weekend and was expecting to get either Bridgestone or continental tyres.....but for some strange reason they have Dunlop tyres on ????
Not sure what I think of them yet as they have only done 5oo miles so far!
What you guy's and girls got ?????? and what do you think ???
-
not a mk5 i know but iv got gooyear eagle f1's on mine. Probably no need no anymore as i dont use it much but theyre quality tyres, expensive for sure but i think worth the pennies! Never had dunlop tyres tbh but they must be ok if theyre on a brand spankin new gti!
Enjoy it by the way, im not jealous atall!

aren't Dunlops standard on all new Golfs now??
I'm sure I've read that somewhere :undecided:
-
Mine has contis on but I have heard of them coming with bridgestones and dunlops as you say so this is not unusual. The contis are crap anyway, mine have only lasted 8500 on the front, mind it could have something to do with a heavy right foot.

had my gti in feb this year and have Bridgestone Potenzas. TBH great tyre in the dry absolutely sh*te in the wet :(
-
conti's on mine

good year eagal F1ns and they rock , car would be like a big slippy jobby without them mind u it is a mk 2 :)

oh yeah , forgot the point there, goodyear eagels , in the wet , it is like a dry day love em , no slide no aqua plain , they just plough through it , HIGHLY recomend these bad boys , blackcircles. com if ure looking , and supposidly they last longer than the toyo proxies that the scooby doo drivers love , long lasting no shieze tyres for ure VW

My GTi is has just turned a month old - nearly 3000 miles on the clock too! Fitted with Dunlops.
I use the beast as a bus for work (hence the miles) and I'm starting to think about what tyres to replace the Dunlops with, any reccomendations?
The dunlops are OK in the dry, and dissapate water quite well but thier handing in the wet is a little loose. IN fact I had a good sideways moment up a back road not so long ago in the wet - lucky there was 200 horses under the bonnet to pull it back into shape!
I want a good all round tyre - something good for the miles and not a "Fasion Accessory" rip off. Had Yokohamas in the past and these have been good. Anyone got any opinions???

Heard lots & lots of good things about Goodyear F1's on Scooby's & the like and from first hand experience with our mkii 16v F1's are brilliant in the wet.

Continentals on mine
-
on my valver i have pirelli p600 on front and yoko something or others on the back of my vavler, no complaints
and on the rocco i dnt even know!!

Have a look on www.mytryes.co.uk - theres a good list on there for the Golf.
Think I'm going to fit the Yokohama C2 thingys - hopefully they'll last more than the 6k the Dunlops have done!

17" Conti's on my Mk 5
-
16"toyo's on mine!195-45-16 130 quid including balancing and valve suits me!

I got 19,000 miles out of my fronts (Contis).
It's Hitachi Capital car and so they insist on Michelins.
I'm glad to back on full rubber.
The GTI is a really handful with only 2/3 mm on the treads.
