Hi all
I have recently bought a lovely MK 1 and have had some work on it. The steering rack was replaced and the gears have not been the same since. I plan to return it to the garage.
The garage said it was a pig to do beacause of the unique way of the movableable links that join the gears to the steering rack.
Is there any websites with information on this and a technical guide to best fit it?
cheers dudes

When you say 'the gears' what exactly do you mean? Is it the universal joint at the bottom of the steering column?

The garage said they has to disengage the exhaust and the gearbox to replace the steering rack.
Since then when its a sod to put the car into the different gears.

They will have had to disconnect your gear linkage and they have not put it back correctly. It is therefore out of adjustment. Simple enough to fix, there was a thread about this recently and someone came across a really good site for doing it yourself..........I'll see if I can find it.
I'm sure there is some info in the Haynes manual too, I haven't got mine to hand at the moment.

That'll fix it :) And thanks to 'teeb' who originally dug that one out for us.
