Drove to work this morning, nothing unusual at all happened.
Left my car for 5 or so hours, got in it at lunch time and drove away, coolant warning light was flashing, checked the bottle, it seemed empty, chucked a pint of water in it, drove about 1 mile, parked and left it for another few hours, checked the coolant and the full pint was still there.
I put another pint in and drove home, car behaved perfectly normally.
I don't check the coolant regularly but it was serviced about less than 2 weeks ago and the coolant was replaced so it should've been full.
Any ideas?
I checked the dipstick and the oil filler cap and the oil looked fine.

Who serviced it? John Wayne?

Mine does this too, one time coolant seems ok .. other times its empty ... not got round to checking but probably blockage or leak somewhere..

Get a blue coolant header tank cap from GSF. Might stop some steam loss ?

Ive got this problem. Goes down about half a pint. Gonna try the blue cap mod 2moro morning
you can get a dye that you put in your coolant which makes it easy to pin point leaks.
-
common spots for leaks are the 2 flanges on the block, the one on the front with the temp senders in and the one on the right hand side that goes to the heater matrix.
-
you might wanna check around your water pump, mine was leaking sometimes but then it would seal itself up again... didnt bother fixing it.
-
i used to get this till i got rid of all the air locks.............................
-
You might also find the thermostat housing has not been fitted correctly which causes it to drop the coolant when the engine warms up but if not a long distance Thermostat doesn't open and no water leak.

Mine was coming out through the coolant expansion header tank seem, when it had been running for some time.
Changed tank and was fine for a while, then leaking from radiator a few months later. Radiator then needed replacing .
