My car has been playing up again!!!!!!!
Kept cutting out as i slowed down or if im stoppin
would shake a little first rev counter shoots up then out it goes
So had the plugs cleaned still no joy
So i paid for a diagnostics test and what came back was that the throttle needed adjusting
so had that done now i been told need new distributor?
Is this a dear doo ya reckon i need a car book i think so confusing inderstanding what all these things mean  :cry:or is it just me

Who told you you need a new dizzie ? I would imagine that would cause constant running problems not just when slowing down. My guess would be the usual mk3 problem of a coked up throttle body, needs taking off and cleaning with carb cleaner. You'll know if thats the problem because if will be full of black sh!t when you look in the chamber.

Tis worth changing the dizzie first tho! Not too expensive and easy to fit.
Then go for the trottle body, but thats a lot of work and if you cant do it yourself then will cost ya a few hours labour.

i took it to garage he is good and very reasonable
but like i say i havent got a clue what does what its just doin me head in now
thanks for the birthday greeting yes was a good en

have you been sniffing funny stuff again len ? throttle body is a 30 minute job tops.. and i think you're thinking about distributor CAP, yeah thats easy and cheap.. the complete distributor is a different matter

Yes topher I only meant the cap and rotor arm! Thats all that needs replacing surely!
May 30 mins for you or me mate! But lisa probably cant do it herself so will get stung at a garage!
