Seems as though i need one that is already perfect as i wont be able to do stuf myself but of course u have to pay a load more for it that way. oh its tough sometimes!

I would be wary of any bay window with bodywork that 'needs attention' unless you are competent with a welder of have loads of money to throw at it. For a really decent bay that you can just jump in and use I think you are looking upwards of £3-4k at the minute.
Have you considered the T25 as an option??? I really wanted a bay but couldn't afford that much on something I couldn't guarantee I'd enjoy. I bought an aircooled T25 early this summer for £800 with a years mot and am loving every minute of it.
-
Ask Rich nicely to go look at it! He lives in Yateley!
Any camper of that age is gonna have some minor rust. But sounds as if the guy has looked after it.
Might bid on it myself!
Nah I wouldnt do such a thing! My finances are in limbo atm so wont be buying anything for a while.

From what I can see it looks tidy enough and has everything and more that you'd want, I can't see that staying at that price though so expect a frenzied last couple of hours, Westfalia interiors are sought after. Deffo sounds honest enough, but who can tell unless you look at it.
-
Looks clean enough. My mate restores campers - full restoration. That looks resonable ok, but picytures do not tell everything....................................................................
-
how much should i be lookin for a fully restored bay then martz? think id be better goin for one that was finished tbh. Would he do one to the spec u wanted if u asked him for it?
-

definitely agree.. last min bidding war waiting to happen..
and yeah until you can check the common spots like front wheel arches.. and the condition of the outriggers and how the engine runs.. although since its been replaced that _should_ be ok.. but it doesnt say if it was a recon unit, or a Vege one or whatever..
-
see im probably not the best person to be buyin one coz u lost me with that last bit tbh.
u got a number for your friend martz? see as i posted above i dont need an mot with living on guernsey so that saves some expence! and also iv always wanted it in certain colours (since i had a money box as a kid)
-
ok.. i'm lucky enough to work with a couple people that have had a few vans over the years.. and although they put me off getting a cheapy one.. i know that for a low end camper therse a reason why its so cheap.. not sure which bit you wont have got in the last bit so i'll try elloborate a tad..
1.. front wheel arches where you step up into the cabin area etc are a notorious rust trap
2.. as are the "outriggers" have been explained to me as being like rib bones that are up up under the car floorpanfor extra strength
3.. as for the engines.. recon = reconditioned is obvious.. Vege is a well known company that sells good quality replacement aircooled engines. http://www.vegeuk.com/
-
gotcha! cheers mate. (was pretty fine with wheel archer, even my mk3's got those!
-
I would try the classified ads on golfgti.co.uk
-
cheap thats all i can say, westys in good nick are going for £5k, i`ve just bought one similar to that, but mines having a resto and will be asking £5k for it and no don`t ask me how much i paid for it, reckon that will end up at £2500 or near
-
i hate it when peeps say there gettin/thinkin of gettin campers..... there soooo easy!!!! yeah they have there trouble spots, but hey pullin up at a show... thats it your there... crack the beers and on your way no messin puttin tents up and stuff... and even though there slow they are a good laugh to drive, so relaxed, comfy driving position... just wish i knew what i had when i sold mine many many years ago... the out riggers were fooked and i didnt have enough money to sort at the time so i sold it for £300...... lol things you do when your 18....... damn that was 13 years ago now..

get one if you can, look after it and it will serve you well
-
im saying nothing.. you know my opinion on it all...
-
So it finished at £3850. Good price if it's as tidy as it looks. Now's the time to buy though as people have finished the shows and it's too cold to camp and people want the cash for Christmas.

Everything has a price, but you'd have to find a lot more than £3850 that the other one went for.
