Hi got a quick Q for y'all, I was driving along in slow traffic the other day, when i stalled the car (mk11 8v gti 91) when i restarted the engine the rev counter did not work and the mfa was trying to swear at me ( it threw up weird half numbers ect). I disconected the battery and it all came back, however I stalledthe car again (problems with the cold start not the driver lol) and it happened again, so is this normal or can i stop it happening ? cheers

Never heard that before?!
Only thing i can think of is maybe a dodgy connection somewhere? Keeps coming loose when stalling car? :undecided:
Another thing is to not stall the car!!!
Sorry not much help.

happened on mine before. Just disconect battery or unplug - replug fuse for MFA will sort it.
It's just the MFA needing resetting

Might be worth checking/replacing the earth straps- they can cause all sorts of weird dashboard stuff.............
-
bash it one with a hammer

check the earth strap from the rocker cover to the coil bracket, this is the main earth for the dash. Though it sounds like you're loosing power to the clocks when it stalls, perhaps from a knackered battery, loose alternator belt or knackered alternator. Take it to Halfords they'll test the battery for free :)

cool i will try that when i get the car back next week ..... and i might bash it with a hammer too, cos i like bashing things with hammers lol
