does anyone know the best way to get your car sorted so you can link your ipod into ur system.
ive tried an itrip but not the best thing
-
there are headunits available that come with it ready to lin ur ipod to so that teh stereo control song library... check out audio section!?
-
the new sony's and kenwoods do but you need an extra bit of kit unlike the alpine which comes with it :D
-
yeah kenwood do a wee box for their newer head units that fools them into thinking the Ipod is an autochanger so u can change tracks etc from the head unit, and keep ur i pod hidden.
,
Been meaning to get one but have to i pod first, couldn't be arsed spending the money though.
Some car makers are making i pod connectivity an option on their new models!! cool eh

wouldn't u just need a 3.5 mm to 2 phono jack cable to do it that way?
or if its not a 3.5mm jack on an ipod one of these

You can get a lead for aux in Nickl0 has one for his, or I got the ipod adapter for my pioneer and its trick as. I can view the entire library on my screen as well as search and view by track name artist or album name
-
all you need is one of thesehttp://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/product_detail.jsp?product_id=10315&taxonomy_id=25-109 and one of thesehttp://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/product_detail.jsp?product_id=10148&taxonomy_id=25-38

if he has an pioneer, kenwood or alpine he is ok,
whats with the golf driving thru the lions??

Some head units won't allow you to use the aux inputs unless it "sees" a CD changer connected to the control cable. So in some cases you have to fool the car into thinking it has a CD changer then you can use the aux input.
I found an article last week about how to mod built-in ICE to add your own mp3 player or DVD player, can't find it now though.
-
I've ditched my head unit all together and just run an MP3 player directly into my 4 channel amp using the cable that used to connect the head unit to the amp, with the addition of an adapter bought from maplin for £3. All the volume control is done on the MP3 and it sounds so much better than it did when it was going through the head unit. The other benefits of this are increased security as the car looks like it doesn't even have a stereo. and less weight which allways helps in a traffic light grand-prix

Kenwood have the kca-ip500
Pioneer - cdib100
Alpine - KCA-420i
Sony - ASOiPOD001 (MES product)
Your standard VW headunit can be linked to the iPod using a sony CD changer interface and then the sony iPod interface.
None of the units come with the ipod connection as standard. not that I know of anyway. All the above adaptors require headuints that have CD changer controls.
If you use a AUX input you won't get track names or control over your ipod. Nor will the iPod be charged during use so if your battery in the ipod runs out that's it. of course you can use a in car ciggy lighter power plug.
The above ipod interfaces a priced around £69.99
