Post by: Deefadog on 26 October 2005, 12:40
I thought i'd ask you mk1 experts if you have imported a new Mk1 citi golf from South africa? or know anyone that has?

web site - http://www.vw.co.za/models/model_detail.jsp?model_id=3586 The site is very slow, so patients needed :)

any info would be much appreciated

I read an article in a vw magazine a few years ago, easy enogh to do if i remember but emissions are a problem, a guy had the software altered from the guy who programmed the original ecu for the citi golf and he has copyright on it, cant remember much more, sorry

Worth checking ebay - sometimes one crops up on there for a stupid low price compared to what a new one would cost.

There's a lass on porka.net selling one but she's had a few probs when someone came to look at it, basically the bloke was being a bit of a plank by the sound of it so check this thread out --> http://www.porka.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2114 it's on ebay at the moment here --> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4586330547

I was going to say that beetles-uk imported them but when I looked at their website there was nothing on there.  :undecided:

Thanks for tip mate. Yes seems a good little car! it's for the wife mainly and i think we will keep it as a spare car for inbetween cars if you know what i mean.

I'll be off down the scrappies for some clocks aswell, i guess the mk1 clocks are easilly changable like the mk2 ones are? so i can set the correct milage on it!

Only paid 25 notes for them with a the dash soround as mine was broken and a water pipe that i needed as mine burst

all done and sweet as a nut

ECP do a leccy window kit for the mk1, dont know if it will be compatible with the citi golf though. :undecided: Give Stuart a ring at ECP in Leeds (see deals and discounts section for 10% off).

Aha i'll have to send Rubjonny on a recon mission for me, he's awsome at finding things at scrappies :)
