Title: Sad thing happened this morning
Post by: JMallows on 26 October 2005, 12:00
Went to start the car this morning, all the lights started flashing, all was well. Turned the key, and it cmpletely died  Switched it off again, it charged up a little bit, enough so that the lights started flashing again! Tried the horn, sounded like a clowns car

Eventually i gave up and changed the battery  Thats 12 years the old ones been on there now, it was hard to let go... Was hoping it would see me through another year, no such luck

Funny thing is, i charged up the old battery overnight, and it was 13V, yet the new one is on less, i know the new one isnt very good, but still!

So sorry for you having to change batteries! What a great shame!

Most batteries will show 13v just after a charge. Then as soon as you connect them up they will show 12v! :undecided:

Voltage means nothing really...The amount of current you can draw is what is important here.

I know that, as the battery was on 12.4V when it didnt start, and was on 11.7V the day before, and started fine! But still, 12 years, you do kinda get attatched!

In its lifetime, its only ever had one battery bought for it, thats this one. Ok, two batteries, as i had to get a replacement
