Mine's been gradually getting worse - having to push it harder and harder - yesterday after filling up with fuel it took an embarrassingly long time to start, luckily it wasn't too busy.
Decided it was time to do something about it - I watched many videos on it but found one UK one that showed how to remove the trim without 'yanking' it out like some of the US ones - I hate dealing with trim parts as I'm afraid of damaging them.

Got the trim off around the DSG gear shifter which was the big one - decided to have one go at a fix and to clean the contacts before buying a new one if it didn't work.
Got the button out - lost one clip down inside the trim but thankfully retrieved it with a pencil magnet.
Took the button apart as per many videos and cleaned the contacts with electrical cleaner - reassembled and presto it's all good.
One light touch of the button and we are now in business!

Good result!
