After 20 years of ownership, it's time for me to part with my Mk4 Golf GT TDI PD150
I bought the car in 2006 with around 50,000 miles on it, and have covered approximately 160,000 mostly motorway miles since then. The car has never been modified and comes with 20 years of paperwork and service history. Not a petrolhead but I've tried to highlight the more significant maintenance work from the paperwork below.
The car drove well until the MOT expired last month, doesn't need much to return to the road, or though the thought breaks my heart, would be a great doner vehicle.
Current Issues:
MOT expired last month
Speedometer and rev counter not working (have been like this for around 3–4 years, hence actual mileage estimated at approx. 212k)
All four tyres are worn and showing age-related cracking
Significant rust on both front wing arches
Rear passenger-side door does not open
Driver's door occasionally requires the key rather than the remote fob to open
ABS and traction control warning lights have recently come on
Rear tyre was slowly losing air (needed inflating every 1–2 weeks), so spare wheel currently fitted
Rear brake light housing cracked
Driver's seat shows wear; other seats are in very good condition
Glovebox door loose
Significant Maintenance History:
Last Year / Around 207k Miles
New battery
Both front suspension arms
Front discs and pads
Both front track rod ends
New N/S/F driveshaft
O/S/F coil spring and top mount
Previous Work
New alternator – 170k
Auxiliary drive belt – 170k
New radiator – 166k
Rear discs and pads – 157k
Coolant hose – 157k
Driveshafts rebuilt and refitted – 153k
Inner and outer CV boots replaced – 153k
New turbo – 150k
New fuel cooler – 143k
Alternator pulley – 133k
O/S/F CV boot kit – 124k
Cambelt and water pump – 110k
Two rear axle bushes – 83k
Service History:
Serviced annually throughout my 20 year ownership until the post-Covid years.
This is an honest sale of a genuine PD150 that I've owned and maintained for two decades. It's not perfect and will need work, but there's plenty of life and good parts left in it for someone who knows these cars.
Happy to answer any questions.
