Title: Rear brake caliper cover (red)
Post by: P6GTD on 24 April 2026, 15:57
Bit of an odd question but can anyone tell me if the centre part of the rear caliper should have a cover?
I got my rear discs and pads replaced a few months ago but it suddenly struck me there should be a full centre cover.

See pics below. Any opinion would be great thanks.

Or maybe the centre has a grey cover? Pretty sure there should be a cover of some sort.

Has my independent forgotten to fit it back on??

Same as mine, it looks like you've still got the anti-squeel shims still fitted too.

OK, thanks for early responders. I have worked out this looks like the back of new pads. I’ve watched a couple of YouTubes now and maybe I’m being a bit “precious”.

I just kind of lost trust in my “VW Independent Specialists”.

It just looked like a space that ought to have had a protective trim ass it had exposed wire clips and an exposed grease face.
