Title: Alarming "thump" in kick-down.
Post by: Buster 1234 on 30 March 2026, 10:04
It seems that at any speed, when in sport mode and I use kick-down, there is an almighty thump before my Mk8.5 GTI takes off like a scalded cat. Google AI says it is a "feature" of the model, but I find it so alarming that I've had to stop kicking-down altogether. Anyone else experienced this?

Hi there, and thanks for your suggestion. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some kind of "boy racer", but I think it's advisable to know your car's capabilities. First time I did it I nearly shat myself, second time I did it I did sh!t myself
