Title: G12 Evo Header Tanks
Post by: Bluest on 11 February 2026, 11:58
Is there such a thing as a replacement header tank with G12 Evo marked on it. I need to remove the silica bag thing and change my coolant over, but It will irritate me close to madness if I have to keep the tank that say G13 mit silikat when that's not what's inside. Also, it might avoid a cock-up by a garage or future owner.

I don’t know the answer, but I have a small cheap label printer and when I changed to G12evo I made a sticker to go over the top of the G13 one 👍🏻

Do those printed labels last in the engine bay? I think they are printed by thermal transfer and I thought they might fade or turn black in the heat of the engine bay.

I would have thought any Mk8 might have have been filled from the factory with G12 Evo so their coolant tank should have something up to date on them although I suspect they might just be plain.

I replaced my tank a few years back, it’s plain with no reference to coolant type.
